Abstract

Introduction/Aims: The study was conducted among 2nd- and 3rd-year undergraduate students and 1st-year master’s students majoring in three specialties: psychology, social security, and medicine. The research examined the influence of leadership qualities on professional training, emotion management, and business communication skills of students in higher education institutions. It explored how these competencies collectively enhance adaptability and preparedness for professional activities in fields such as psychology, social work, and medicine, addressing gaps in educational methodologies.

Methods: We employed a comprehensive, four-stage methodology with content analysis as the primary data collection method. The study involved 63 participants from the National Technical University (Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute) and Kharkiv National Medical University, including 2nd- and 3rd-year undergraduate students and 1st-year master’s students majoring in psychology, social security, and medicine. The research focused on evaluating the interplay between leadership qualities, emotional intelligence, and communication skills.

Results: Leadership qualities significantly enhanced professional training, emotional intelligence, and adaptability to professional demands. Students with strong leadership skills exhibited better teamwork, task management, and interaction capabilities, positively influencing their academic and career readiness. Conversely, deficiencies in leadership, communication, and organizational skills were associated with lower business communication quality, reduced teamwork efficiency, and limited professional growth.

Discussion: The findings emphasize the importance of integrating leadership, communication, and organizational training into academic curricula. This integration fosters adaptability, collaboration, and career readiness. By providing a unified framework for professional training, the study highlights the interconnected impact of these competencies. Tailored programs focusing on stress management, organizational skills, and leadership development are recommended to enhance students’ preparedness for professional challenges and long-term success. The study also contributes to understanding student development and learning processes within higher education contexts.
