Abstract
Burnout is characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and reduced work-related personal accomplishment. The Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) is a widely used tool for measuring burnout syndrome. Several studies have been conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of various versions of the MBI, including the MBI-Student Survey. However, cultural, social, and economic factors may affect burnout differently in African countries, highlighting the need for more research. The study examined burnout among college students in Kenya, specifically by investigating the factorial structure, validity, and reliability of the Maslach Burnout Inventory-Student Survey (MBI-SS). The study involved a total of 422 participants. The three-factor model was the same as the hypothesized model except for the EE5 item loaded to both EE and CY.
