Abstract
From its historical underpinnings to contemporary clinical applications, hypnosis boasts a long tradition of effectiveness in pain management. The analgesic and anesthetic qualities of hypnosis have withstood scientific scrutiny, which provides robust evidence for incorporating hypnosis in pregnancy and labor, particularly for mothers who are anxious or fearful about childbirth or who may be at risk for medical interventions. This article explores the history of hypnosis and contemporary applications in childbirth education.
