Abstract
Loneliness is a universal experience that does not respect the boundaries of age, gender, race, marital or socio – economic status and it may be either persistent and continuous or short lived. This review article examines loneliness and its correlates in everyday life, loneliness in school children, what contributes to it, and what can be done to assist children to cope with it, or better yet – to ward it off.
