Abstract
Retail warehousing stability is increasingly threatened by global uncertainties and supply chain disruptions, requiring urgent and innovative strategies. This issue is critical for retail warehousing managers and supply chain leaders, as their ability to respond impacts organizational resilience, business continuity, and customer satisfaction. The purpose of this qualitative pragmatic inquiry was to explore strategies used by retail warehousing managers to mitigate the negative impacts of supply chain disruptions on business stability. The situational crisis communication theory and attribution theory provided the conceptual framework for understanding how retail warehousing managers communicate and respond to supply chain disruptions while maintaining stakeholder trust and operational stability. Six operational managers participated in this study from retail warehousing facilities located in Georgia, Virginia, and Washington State. Data were collected through semistructured interviews using a set list of open-ended questions. Thematic analysis was used to identify and interpret common patterns and themes in participant responses. Data analysis revealed four key themes: the importance of adaptability and resilience, proactive crisis planning and communication, workforce optimization, and the role of data-driven performance metrics. A key recommendation is for retail warehousing managers to integrate adaptive workforce strategies and digital tools to enhance operational resilience during supply chain disruptions. The implications for positive social change include the potential to empower retail warehousing managers with effective strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions, thereby promoting business stability and improving job security for frontline employees.
