Abstract

•Risk factors for blood lead levels ≥10 μg/dL have been defined as gender, child age, poverty, old housing, and race/ethnicity.

•No risk factors have yet been associated with the CDC's new reference level for childhood lead poisoning of 5 μg/dL.

•BLLs in Tennessee children are higher than the national average.

•Being Black, male, and two and three years old were identified as risk factors for the new reference level in this analysis.

•Pre-1950 housing and poverty persist as risk factors for the new reference level according to multivariable analysis.
