Abstract

This DNP project entails staff education regarding menopause hormonal use in a women's clinic. The practice problem was the lack of staff confidence regarding hormone use in menopausal women. It is essential to address the practice problem within the context of nursing practice because it can potentially enhance positive social change by addressing the healthcare needs of an underserved demographic. The project aimed to develop and deliver an education program regarding the care of menopausal women for staff members in the women's clinic. The project question was whether staff education regarding menopause hormonal use could increase confidence among staff in a women's clinic. Twenty clinic staff responded to an email asking for volunteers to participate and receive the education. Participants received an electronic link to the pretest, educational program, and posttest. The pre-and post-test included six questions about confidence, competency, knowledge, and practice in menopause care. The data was initially collected using a Likert scale, which was then converted to a simple Yes or No format for easier analysis. Descriptive statistics showed improvements in all areas when comparing post-test scores to pre-test scores. The findings are that education enhanced staff confidence regarding menopausal hormonal use in a women's clinic. This program may serve as an initial step toward individualized care of menopausal women, contributing to their improved health outcomes and the potential for positive social change.
