Abstract
The NurseOneTap Project is a staff education initiative designed to improve nursing documentation accuracy and efficiency through the implementation of a culturally sensitive electronic health record (EHR) system. This project addressed a critical gap in nursing practice—transitioning from paper-based documentation to EHR systems—by providing structured educational interventions to enhance staff proficiency, confidence, and documentation accuracy. A pre- and post-evaluation methodology was employed to assess improvements in system navigation, real-time data access, workflow optimization, and documentation accuracy. Results demonstrated a 54.5% increase in staff proficiency, a 50% improvement in documentation accuracy, and a 76% rise in staff confidence in using the system. Additionally, documentation errors decreased by 30%, highlighting the intervention’s effectiveness. Qualitative feedback supported these findings, with staff reporting greater ease in system use and improved efficiency in daily documentation tasks. Beyond its immediate impact on nursing documentation and workflow efficiency, the NurseOneTap Project contributes to broader social change by fostering equitable and inclusive healthcare documentation practices. This project provides a scalable model for improving EHR adoption and usage in diverse healthcare settings, ultimately enhancing patient safety and care quality.
